Wedding Day Flowers

When it comes to picking flowers for your wedding, the options are endless.  Large, grand displays, loose stems with ribbons, and unique plants are all great ideas.

All white flowers is a beautiful touch for any wedding.  You can add variation to the classic look by using several different centerpieces at varying heights throughout your reception site.

Bright flowers can add the perfect pop of color to brighten up your big day.  The potted plants helped bring the wedding colors outside near the ceremony site.  An easy way to keep the colors consistent throughout your venue.

When bold colors are used in flowers, a great way for the head table arrangement to stand out is by adding a dramatic display. The deep purple flowers brought a very regal feel to this reception.  The simplicity of the all white flowers in a grand vase was perfect for the head table decor.

Taking ideas from a few different designs can also create your perfect balance.  This reception had a very tropical feel with bold flowers, succulents and water elements for the centerpieces.

Ideas for a Unique Wedding

There once was a day when straying from tradition, or adding non-traditional touches to your wedding could be strange, weird or just unheard of.  Not today.  With many bridal web sites, Pinterest and abundant D.I.Y ideas, being unique is often welcomed when it comes to a wedding. There are several ways in which you can add your own spin, but here are a few ideas.

Create your own theme based on your personality.  There are a TON of wedding theme ideas available, but why not create your own.  You may like bright colors, vibrant flowers and large accent pieces for decoration.  Your own take on a fairy tale tea party.  Choose a theme that closely resembles your own loves, rather than the pre-created themes that can be found on the internet.

Be bold in your color choices.  Bring color to all aspects of your wedding.  You can include favors with a pop of color, table runners, chair ties, a stand out cake or even bright drink ideas.  Your choice of color can be infused through out the day; from ceremony to reception to exit.

Color Pop
A pop of color gives a great touch for these floating candles.

Do the unexpected.  While tradition may state that each wedding has a bouquet toss, a first dance and a cake cutting ceremony you can choose to do things differently.  A choreographed bridal party entrance, a unique unity ceremony or reception entertainment may be an option.  Some couples have chosen to include karaoke into their reception, or perhaps a caricature artist.  Your event will surely stand out with a fun way for guests to remember your special day.

Bridal Art

Think beyond the traditional materials.  We are already seeing couples change the way guests sign in, the cake is displayed, and even the way the ceremony is set up.  Incorporate natural materials such a stones, wood or water into your decor.  Some couples opt for trees and greenery instead of flowers.  You may also choose to change up your favors and give out seeds or coffee beans.

A wedding is all about celebrating the Bride and Groom.  Make it a day about you two.  Set your own tradition by stepping out and making your day unique!

Ceremony in the Round

Brides are always thinking of the one touch that may make their wedding stand out from the rest.  Simple homemade touches, bright colors, and exotic flowers are all some of the ways to stand out from the rest.  Another great example would be the way your ceremony site is set up.

Here at Angel Springs we get a lot of compliments on our “Ceremony in the Round”.

A circle is very symbolic in a wedding.  Brides and Grooms exchange rings as a symbol of their undying love.  Just as a circle has no beginning, and no end, so does their love.  The ceremony in the round allows the bride and groom to add a circle element and be surrounded by those closest to them.  All guests have a great view of the happy couple, and it brings a unique feature to the wedding ceremony.

If you are looking for a different approach to a traditional ceremony, changing the set-up of your ceremony chairs may be your perfect, stand-out touch.

Let him eat cake…

I have seen my share of amazing Grooms cakes, and I personally love the idea of honoring the groom during the wedding reception.  Every now and then I get asked, “Why a Groom’s cake?  Is this a cake just for ME?  Why do we need two cakes?”  It makes some wonder…where did Groom’s cakes begin?

There are several different stories on the history of a Groom’s cake.  Some traditions state that the Groom’s cake was a fruit cake, or dark rich cake served separate from the traditional wedding cake.  At one time it was believed that the Groom’s cake was the cake left just for the couple to enjoy on their anniversary.  Others believed the Groom’s cake was sliced and given to the single ladies at the reception.  This slice was then to be placed under their pillow where it would cause them to dream about their future husband.

Fast forward to modern times and we now enjoy Groom’s cake as an expression on the Groom’s hobbies or personality.  It is often a fun shaped cake, sometimes a unique flavor, and can be a great representation of who the groom really is.  We have seen sports teams, hunting or fishing themes, poker themes, and cakes from the grooms college of choice.  With so many details in a wedding, and many picked by the bride, a grooms cake is a great way for the groom to have his say on the perfect cake!  Not to mention, the guests love seeing what unique cake creation you may have come up with.

Bridal Extravaganza

Bridal Extravaganza is back in town and Angel Springs will be there!!  It is always fun for us to set up a booth, chat with brides and get involved in their wedding excitement.  However, ever now and then we have a bride who asks “What is Bridal Extravaganza all about?”  They may be just starting out in their planning stage and not sure if a bridal show is something they should go to.  Others may be very familiar with bridal shows, but perhaps the groom or other family members are new to the experience.  We are here to let you know what you can expect!

Imagine 200+ local vendors all in one area to help with your wedding planning.  Bridal Extravaganza will have vendors ranging from wedding venues to home mortgage specialists.  You can find vendors to help design you invitations or vendors to help get you in the best shape of your life before your big day.  It is a great opportunity to gather information, see what specialized services are available and begin booking your favorites.   You can also see the latest bridal fashions during the daily fashion show.

Bridal Extravaganza will be held this weekend, January 5-6 at the Palmer Event Center in Austin.  The show is open from 12-5 PM each day.  Again, there will be a bridal fashion show each day as well as drawings for some fabulous prizes.  Admission is $14 for adults, but brides can get in FREE just for registering online ahead of time.  So, gather some friends and family, put on your walking shoes and get out to the show!  Don’t forget to stop by the Angel Springs booth and see why hundreds of couples have fallen in love with where they said “I Do”.

Top Wedding Trends of 2012

Each year the bridal industry sees trends that take weddings by storm.  We have seen bright colors incorporated into wedding gowns, flowers you may not normally see in wedding bouquets, and high-energy choreographed dances.  As we look back at 2012, here are a few of this years favorite trends we saw.

1. The first look photos.

First Look Wedding Photos

We are seeing these first glance photos more and more.  Couples are choosing to actually see each other before their ceremony, but getting that precious first glance on camera makes such a great keepsake photo for their album.

2. Food truck catering.

Food trucks

Wedding food is not always served buffet or sit-down style.  Some couples are choosing to think outside the box and provide food trucks for their catering.  It is a casual, fun approach to feeding your guests, and the type of food can vary from gourmet to state fair favorites.

3. Signature drinks.

Signature Cocktail

Adding personality to your wedding can be done in a variety of ways.  One thing that couples are doing to add a personal touch is providing a signature drink for their guests.  This cocktail can be one they both love, a drink made to match their wedding colors, or a beverage to match the theme of their event.

4. Dessert Table

Dessert Table

Traditionally speaking, the wedding cake has been viewed as the “dessert” of a wedding.  Todays bride may choose to not only serve cake, but offer a dessert table for her guests to enjoy.  Several small, single serve desserts are arranged on a table and guests are given many choices for their sweet tooth preferences.

There are no rules when it comes to making your wedding your own.  By adding your own personal touches you not only create your perfect day, but you also give your guests a wedding experience they will always remember.  So, as 2012 comes to an end, what were some favorite wedding trends you noticed this year?

Tis the Season!

We are all gearing up for the fast approaching holidays coming our way.  It is a time to gather with friends and family, enjoy good company and reflect on another years worth of accomplishments.  It is no wonder that Christmas time also marks a very  busy season for wedding proposals.  Often times families are brought together, and there is no better way to celebrate love than with those who are closest to you.

There is no question that getting engaged during the holidays can be both romantic and exciting.  Once the excitement sets in, and the news becomes real, some brides may find themselves saying, “We’re engaged…now what?”

~First, and foremost, enjoy your engagement.  This is an exciting time in your life, and it becomes easy to instantly go into planning mode.  Relax, breathe and enjoy this time.

~Determine what your perfect wedding includes.  Gather ideas.  What type of ceremony are you looking for?  Is there a certain time of year that you would love to say “I Do”?  What are the absolute must-haves for your big day?  How many people will you be inviting?

~Once you and your fiancé are on the same page with your ideas, let the planning begin!  Finding your ideal wedding venue is important.  This will set the tone for the rest of your planning.  Once you book your venue you can tie in all the vendors who will help make your day amazing.

Wedding venues all over will be full of anxious, excited brides beginning in January.  We are well on our way to wedding season!  We hope you all enjoy your holidays, and if you find yourself newly engaged this month please come visit Angel Springs.

We would love to help you fall in love with the place you say “I Do”.
