Unique Wedding Décor

Here are some unique ideas from Heather’s wedding tonight.  The first one is a beaitiful piece of edible art from FW Catering.

Appetizer Palm Tree

The Heather and Christopher will preside over their reception from what is known as a “King’s Table.”  You can create this effect by using four six-foot rectangular tables pushed together.

The bride’s cake was accented by using candles under a sheet of glass.

I hope you enjoy these suggestion.  If you want more information, just give us a call at 688-771-1500.

Golden Hour

The golden hour is the first or last hour of sunlight, when the quality of the light allows for some spectacular photos.  Here is an example from Everafer Images that shows what can be accomplished by a skilled photographer.

Golden Hour photography

Be sure to discuss this opportunity with your photographer before deciding on a ceremony time.  They will be happy to give you guidance on scheduling your ceremony in order to allow sufficient time afterwards for photos that take advantage of this special light.  You may want to consider having your ceremony end about 45 minutes to an hour before sunset.  This provides plenty of time for your photographer to capture photos of your family and bridal party, as well as some special photos of the two of you, freshly married!

Ceremony in the round

What a stunning layout.  This past weekend, our imaginative bride chose to hold her wedding ceremony literally surrounded by her friends and family.

Ceremony in the round

The reception was held in the ballroom.  The dark brown pin-tuck linens were perfect for a fall wedding.

They also served mini-cupcakes as an alternative to a traditional wedding cake.

Bridal Extravaganza Tips

After the recent Bridal Extravaganza I remembered a couple of tips that I share with brides that visit us at Angel Springs.  If you are going to attend a Bridal Show, Bridal Extravaganza, or other event where there are a lot of vendors, here are some tips for you:

  • Create a “throw-away” email address.  If you use a new email address at gmail, hotmail, or other mail hosting site for your wedding planning, you won’t still be getting wedding vendor emails a year after you’re married.
  • Print your name, wedding date, phone number, and your new wedding planning email on a sheet of mailing labels.  When you visit with a vendor that you want to hear from later, put a label on their sign in sheet.  This saves you from having to write this information a dozen times during the show.
  • Bring a camera or cell phone camera.  Take pictures of design ideas that interest you.  You can then show these pictures to your wedding planner, florist, or other vendor to help them create the wedding of your dreams.  Also take pictures of vendors that you want to follow up with, including their sign with their name on it.  This will help you remember who they are when you’re digging through the pile of fliers and brochures you brought home.

Now, in case you didn’t take pictures of our booth at the most recent show, here is how we decorated our space.

The Cabins at Angel Springs

Construction on our latest project, The Cabins at Angel Springs, is well underway.

One of our log cabins

We are building four log cabins in the woods adjacent to Angel Springs Event Center.  They are a great place for lodging for out of town friends and family, or for the bridal party to stay for the weekend.  One cabin will be used as a honeymoon suite.  Wouldn’t it be nice to stroll down to your cabin for a romantic evening after your wedding?

Come by to take a look.  We’re like proud parents, and love  to show them off.

How to have a “cool” wedding reception

OK.  It’s summer.  It’s hot outside.  Here’s a cool idea for your reception: add an ice sculpture!

An ice sculpture can add a touch of elegance to your reception, and summer is a great time wow your guests with one.  Here are a couple of pictures to show how great they can look.

Sculptures like these really aren’t that expensive.  We can add one to any Angel Springs package for only $350.

Our ice man is Doug Christy at Amazing Ice Designs.  Check out his web site for more unique pictures.

Head Tables for Wedding Receptions

What to do about a head table? That is a question brides often ponder when planning their wedding reception.

If you choose to have a head table, here are some alternate layouts we have seen at recent weddings.

This reception, which featured apple green linens, made use of a 60-inch round table in the center of the head table for the bride and groom seats. The bridal party was seated six on each side. Note the use of the beautiful sheer swirl overlays to enhance the style.

Here is another example of using the round table for the bride and groom seating. This bride chose to use a completely different tablecloth pattern to call more attention to their table.

Although we’ve shown this in our blog before, it’s worth showing again. This arrangement of tables is known as a King’s table. Four six-foot rectangular tables were arranged together to create one large table. You can see the bride’s and groom’s chairs at the end.

Many brides are now choosing to skip the head table altogether. If your wedding style is more informal, and you’d rather not feel like you are on display, this is a great choice. Many times head tables are not even used after dinner. The bride and groom are spending their time visiting with guests and dancing.

Instead, consider having some reserved tables for the bridal party and immediate family. You can forgo the expense of special head table decor, and sit with your parents and other family. This also makes it easier for spouses and children of bridal party members to sit together. Think how uncomfortable it must be for a husband of a bridesmaid that doesn’t know many other guests to sit at a table of strangers.

Valentine’s Day Wedding

Always a popular wedding date, Valentine’s Day was the special day that Kelsey and Alan got married! And what could be sweeter on Valentine’s Day than a candy bar.

wedding 165

Always popular with the guests, a candy bar allows each person to customize their own wedding favor. For this wedding, guests were able to fill a goody bag with an assortment of candy hearts, chocolates, Tootsie Rolls, M & M’s, chocolate kisses, and more. The silver L – O – V – E letters were a cute addition to the decorations.

Although the weather was nice that day, Kelsey opted to have her wedding inside. If you’re looking for a wedding venue, it’s always smart to consider a “plan B”.

Kelsey and Alan and all of their friends and family were great to work with, and Kelsey dropped us a nice note when she returned from her honeymoon:

Norma & Anthony,

Alan and I wanted to thank you and your staff for all that you have done. We are so happy that we choose Angel Springs and that it was the perfect place to say “I do”. Thank you again and good luck with all your future events!

Her Mom also gave us a nice review on www.WeddingWire.com.

As a wedding planner in the area we had several venues to choose from for my daughter’s wedding but Angel Springs offered exactly what we were looking for.The owners Norma and Anthony were a pleasure to work with.We ended up bringing in our own vendors but their package deals are a good value to consider.
