Kudos for Coordinator

Jessica and Ken were married at Angel Springs last month and sent us a nice note about our wonderful coordinator:

Working with Marcy was a pleasure. She was so professional and answered all my questions. I had many guests the night of my wedding comment on how good she was. We even had a family member tell us she asked Marcy for her phone number so when 2 more of our family members get engaged they can call her. She made sure my husband and I were taken care of as well as that things ran smoothly. We will definitely be recommending her to everybody we know. –Jessica & Ken

We were so happy to hear from them.

Rain or Shine- We are Going to Have a Good Time!

Here at Angel Springs, come rain, come shine- we make sure to have a good time! We recently had a gorgeous wedding that ended up a little wet. Non the less the Bride was gorgeous, the Groom was smiling and their family and friends danced the night away. I am excited to share the pictures from Melody C Photography with you guys. The pictures really do capture the spirit of the day.

A few tips to make your rainy wedding day wonderful:

*If you see rain in the forecast, go out and purchase all of your bridesmaid’s matching rain boots and/or umbrellas. This makes for really cute pictures.

*Set out a jar and collect rain water, then put it in a sealed container for a keepsake or put it in a small charm for a necklace pendant.

* If it is still raining, after the reception is over, have your photographer take a few snapshots of you and your new husband/wife outside splashing in rain puddles, dancing in the rain, and just having a good time- these make cute pictures and fun memories.

Cupcakes, Donuts, Pies- OH MY!

I received a Facebook message today from another wedding professional that had a linked video attached. It was a video lecture about wedding cake traditions and how the tradition of wedding cakes got started. One thing that I thought was neat was that the groom’s cake was always a surprise given to him by his bride. So that got me thinking about how much tradition has changed. The groom’s cake is often starting to get replaced by other sweets and other fun things that are out of the box, cake box if you will. I have seen a lot of candy bars, mini pies, cake pops, cupcakes, cookie bars and even donuts! I did some online surfing and came up with some images for you.

Cupcakes:  Michelle’s Patisserie

Pies: Tiny Pies

Dessert Bar: Dessert Divas

Donut Cake-  Found on Google 🙂

DIY Bride on the Rise

Do it yourself wedding projects are all the hype right now. As we all know, weddings are not cheap and often do come with a hefty price tag, so why not take off some of that chunk of change and save some of your shiny pennies?! There are countless blogs and pin boards that have DIY projects and instructions  that are easy to follow for your inner crafter. Below are some pictures that I found on Bliss Bridal Magazine’s website (www.Blissmagatx.com). I thought they are super cute and follow a lot of the current trends that I am seeing in the industry.  I don’t about you guys but I love myself some Hobby Lobby half off sales- you can always get good deals and get some of these cute looks for just half the price!

Happy Crafting!

Bridal Show Fun

Well, its that time of year again.. Austin Bridal Extravaganza was a success this year! We are excited to share the pictures of our booth with you all. I wanted to give a special thanks to Brenda Abbott Floral Design and Amazing Ice Design for our ice sculpture. We had an ice sculpture of a frog, and our theme was “It takes kissing a lot of frogs to find your Prince.” Mr. Frog was a huge hit as well as our fall arrangement done by Brenda. Enjoy the pictures and come by and see us at the next show 🙂

Neon Love

Whats pink, green, yellow and bright all over?! THIS awesome styled wedding!

This blog post is different than the posts I have posted in the past and will be posting, but I couldn’t pass these pictures up. I had to share them. I always talk about new upcoming trends in the wedding industry and this particular post is focusing on at a wedding inspired by fashion trends- NEON. The designer of the shoot did a good job incorporating neon elements, creative DIY projects and sass but kept an over all wedding feel. You want different? This wedding has you covered!

P.S. My favorite part of the whole shoot is the bride and groom’s fashion- it would make anybodies face “light” up… (just had to wrap it up with a cheesy joke, not so funny joke! )  🙂

Lights, Camera, PHOTO BOOTH!

Remember the day when every wedding you attended had throw away cameras on each table for guests to snap candid shots and random pictures? Well as we know…instead of capturing all of the guests at the wedding the cameras were most often hogged by all the little kids running around “taking pictures” but in reality they were wasting the film and your hard earned dollars.  Whoever came up with the photo booths was genius in my opinion. Photo booths are now being used as a cute, creative and spunky way to capture the faces and personalities of your guests. They also double as a guest book and favors for the guest- talk about killing multiple birds with one stone!! The guest books are composed of pages of photo strips glued into the book with space for guests to write. Then the guest get to take home a photo strip to remember your day for years to come. Photo booths range from old timing traditional booths to creative back drops to no back drop and fun props. Some photo booths also have recorders in them so that you can record mini messages for the couple. There are lots of options- happy (photo booth) hunting!

I gathered some pictures from some photo booth vendors in the Austin area below:

Boring Guest Books- No More!

It’s standard procedure at every wedding to sign your name in the sign in guest book, or is it? Alright prepare yourself…traditions are changing! Although the typical book with lines is still a popular choice by couples, creative juices are flowing in the minds of our brides and grooms. Guest books have been evolving from pen and paper binded books to puzzles, canvas, “wish” trees, recipe cards, mad libs games, and even ROCKS! Rocks, yes rocks…smooth stones where you write a note, or sign your name for the couple. The sign in book that I have been seeing over and over again and I think is really cute are the thumb prints on canvas. I love the idea of having a sign in book that is for yours to keep and display in your house as a reminder of all the special loved ones that helped you share your day. Just like the thumbprints, there are no two canvases just alike- pretty cool huh?  Where do you get these canvases you may ask? If you were my bride, I would send you to Etsy.com where there are tons and tons of options and styles.  Another one of my favorite types of sign in books are the hard covered albums filled with the couples engagement pictures. The album has empty white spaces so that your guest can write a special note or just simply sign their name. To get this type of book I would ask your photographer for options and if you are on a tight budget you can make one yourself on sites such as Shutterfly.com.( Please remember that the books from your photographer are going to most likely be better quality) These albums are special because they are appealing to the eye and make great coffee table books to share with guests and each other for years to come. If you are anything like me, you like traditional and creative… there is no rule saying you can’t do both. When it’s time for me to say “I do”   I will be having a traditional sign in book and then something creative as well. Options, options, options- isnt wedding planning so much fun?!

Below in the gallery the thumbprint tree is from our very own wedding here at Angel Springs 🙂

Wedding Signage

It’s true, wedding signage is all the rage right now. Couples are getting creative when it comes to their reception decor, it’s not just typed words nicely framed anymore. Now we have yarn signs, painted wood, chalk boards, old windows with vinyl lettering, letters that spell out words such as “love” or “cake” or even the couple’s last name. Another popular trend right now is to have a triangular flags with words on them such as “love is sweet” for the cake table or “thank you” hanging on a sign for thank you notes after all the wedding festivities are over with. Photo booth pictures are also being snapped with words and phrases included as props. Bride and groom chairs are now often labeled with cute and creative signs hanging from the back of them. I did some web browsing for you all to show you some of the hottest wedding trends, of course I couldnt gather up one of everything because there are so many options to die for!
